A man in his 60s has died following a shooting in a Co Wicklow village.
Walter Tomkins (66) died after being shot in a house at Cronelea, close to the village of Shillelagh, at about 6.30pm yesterday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 62-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is being questioned at Baltinglass Garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
No one else was in the house at the time. Gardaí are not looking for anyone else in relation to the shooting.

It is understood the deceased man’s mother had died in recent days.
The scene was sealed off last night and gardaí notified the State Pathologist’s office. A postmortem will be carried out at Naas General Hospital today.
