A man who was critically injured by a Garda sniper following a stand-off at a house in Gort, Co Galway, last October was yesterday further remanded on bail.
At Ennis District Court, Anthony Burke (40), Crowe Street, Gort, appeared for the third time in connection with the reckless discharge of a firearm contrary to Section 8 of the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act, 1990.
He is also charged that on October 9th at Crowe St, Gort, he had a weapon, which gave rise to a reasonable inference that he had not got the gun for a lawful purpose, contrary to the Firearms Act.
Mr Burke was shot by a marksman from the Emergency Response Unit as he emerged from his home in Crowe Street at the end of the stand-off on that day.
He was further remanded on bail until May 4th to allow instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions .
