A 30 year old man has been remanded in custody after he was charged in connection with a €200,000 heroin seizure in Cork at the weekend.

Robert Garvan with an address at The Paddocks, Mahon, Cork was brought before a special sitting of Cork District Court yesterday and charged with a total of three offences.

Mr Garvan was charged with possession, possession for sale or supply and possession for sale or supply of more than €13,000 worth of heroin at Cloghroe, Blarney on 14th August.

Det Garda Peter Kennedy gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution and told the court that Mr Garvan made no reply to any of the charges after they were put to him.

Insp Pat Cadogan said that gardai had been in contact with Mr Garvan¿s solicitor, Emmet Boyle and the accused was consenting to a remand in custody until tomorrow.

Judge James McNulty granted the garda application for a remand in custody and remanded Mr Garvan in custody at Cork Prison to appear again at Cork District Court tomorrow.
