A 26-year-old man has appeared in court this morning in connection with the stabbing to death of Christopher Farrell in Tallaght yesterday.

Mr Garret Cooney, of Cloonmore Park, was charged at Tallaght District Court with possession of an offensive weapon. He was also charged with affray under the Public Order Act.

The cout heard that more serious charges would be brought against the accused at a later stage.

Mr Farrell, a 23-year-old father of two, was killed early yesterday morning after an incident at a New Year's party in Cloonmore Park.

The accused was remanded in custody to appear at Clover Hill court next week.
