A man has been remanded in custody charged with the fatal stabbing of another man in Nenagh last weekend.
Karlis Ruja (50), a Latvian national with an address at Eiscir Island, Tullamore, Co Offaly was charged with assault causing harm to Ukrainian Alexey Pekelman (30) at the Coach Yard, Nenagh last Sunday morning.
Portumna District Court heard Mr Ruja was arrested on Tuesday and charged yesterday evening.
He had been treated in hospital for a stab wound to the stomach. His solicitor requested that he receive any necessary medical attention while he is custody.

No application for bail was made.
Judge Michael Reilly granted Mr Ruja legal aid and remanded him in custody to appear at Nenagh District Court tomorrow.
