A waiter accused of murdering two Irish women was back in court yesterday in Turkey where he claimed his father was innocent of any involvement in the crime.
Recep Cetin and his father, Eyup Cetin (43), appeared before Izmir High Criminal Court in the western city of Izmir as their trial resumed.
Recep Cetin is accused of killing Marian Graham and Kathy Dinsmore, both 53, in woodland near the holiday resort where they were staying in Kusadasi, Turkey, in August 2011.
But he told the court his father, who is before the court for allegedly aiding and abetting the crime and denies the charge, was not present when the incident happened – and that he acted alone.
He reiterated a claim he made during a previous hearing on November 9th last that the killings were committed in self defence. The trial was adjourned to February 20th next.
