A man is recovering in a Limerick hospital following a shooting in Co Clare last night.
It is understood the man, Mr Anthony Kelly (46), was making tea when he was shot through the window of his home in Kilrush.
Mr Kelly sustained two gunshot wounds in the attack at about 11 p.m. He was hit once in the arm and in the chest.
He was brought to hospital in Ennis and later transferred to Limerick Hospital where his condition has been described as "stable".
A Garda investigation into the shooting is under way and the scene ofthe attack has been sealed off for technical examinations.
Mr Kelly is known to gardai and it is thought the shooting may be related to the ongoing gang feud in Limerick. He was also once forced to pay money over to the Criminal Assets Bureau.
A confrontation took place between television cameramen and a group of peopleoutside Mr Kelly's house earlier today but no arrests were made.
