One man is in hospital after being shot by members of the PSNI in an incident near Belfast last night.
The injured man was the driver of a stolen car which rammed a police vehicle in the early hours of this morning.
Officers fired a number of shots and the incident has been reported to the Northern Ireland Police Ombudsman.
The victim is in hospital but his condition is not thought to be life threatening. One man was arrested. The confrontation happened at around 1.40am this morning in the Rockmount area of Dundonald after police in a patrol car noticed two vehicles driving along the Comber Road towards east Belfast.
After realising one of the cars, a Vauxhall Meriva had been stolen, police followed the vehicle, cornering it in a cul de sac where the collision took place.
A spokesman for the Ombudsman's office said investigators were at the scene.
