A man (19) was killed in Cork earlier today when the car he was driving crashed near Mallow.
The crash happened on the N72 Mallow to Killarney Road at Ballymaquirk at approximately 6am. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gardaí at Kanturk are investigating and have appealed for motorists in the area between 5am and 6am to come forward.
The section of the N72 is closed for investigations and local diversions are in place.Three men were also injured, one seriously, in a crash on the N3 Cavan/Dublin Road at 3.30am. The road remains closed on the Cavan side of Virginia.
Yesteday, a man in his 30s died when the car he was driving left the road and crashed into a ditch in Co Louth. The incident happened shortly before 2.45am at Philipstown, Hackballscross. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
AA Roadwatch warned motorists to be aware of very wet road conditions and strong winds nationwide and localised flooding. “Drive with extra care, slow down and be mindful of pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists,” it said.
