Man killed in house fire in Co Cork

A man in his 30s was killed in a house fire in Cork today.

A man in his 30s was killed in a house fire in Cork today.

The alarm was raised at around 6am at a family home in Freemount, a village between Charleville and Kanturk.

The man was taken to hospital but died later of his injuries.

The name of the man has not yet been released.

His death brings the number of people killed in fires this year to three, following earlier fire deaths in Limerick and Laois. Last year, 39 people lost their lives in fires.
