Man killed in Sligo road collision

Gardaí in Sligo are investigating a fatal road traffic collision in which a 21-year-old man was killed.

Gardaí in Sligo are investigating a fatal road traffic collision in which a 21-year-old man was killed.

The two-car collision occurred on the N17 at Ballinacarrow, Ballymote at about 9am this morning.

The victim, who was the driver of one of the vehicles, was brought to Sligo General Hospital where he later pronounced dead. The drive of the other car did not suffer life threatening injuries.

The road is currently closed for forensic collision investigations, and diversions are in place.

Meanwhile traffic on the M50 around Dublin is now moving well following the removal of vehicles from this morning's seven car collision.

The crash happened on the M50 Northbound, between junction 11 (Tallaght) and junction 10 (Ballymount).

Gardai and Dublin Fire Brigade were called to the scene.  There are no reports of any injuries.
