A 20-year-old man was killed yesterday when the car which he was driving was in collision with an articulated lorry at Kildimo, Co Limerick.
Gardaí at Askeaton station, Limerick are investigating the collision which happened shortly after 4 pm. The male driver of the lorry was said to be uninjured.
The young man's death brought to 244 the number of people killed on the Republic's roads since the start of the year.
Earlier yesterday, a 77-year-old woman also died following an incident in which she was struck by a bus on Sunday afternoon.
Meanwhile the victim of the fatal road traffic collision on Sunday in Ennis, Co Clare was named as Mary McGuane (75), of Ennis.
Ms McGuane was struck by a motorbike at around midday.
Gardaí also named the 19-year-old man killed in Saturday's collision in Newbridge Co Kildare, as Seán Devine from Newbridge.
In the North a 26-year-old man died and two others were seriously injured in a road accident last on Sunday night near Comber in Co Down.
Antanas Bunevicius, originally from Lithuania but with an address in in Millisle Co Down, died when the car he was travelling in was in a collision with another car on the Ballygowan Road.
