A former senior GAA official was further remanded by Judge Flann Brennan at Bally bay District Court, Monaghan, yesterday, on 75 charges of sexual offences involving children between 1958 and 1978. The man, aged 70, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faces 75 counts of indecent assaults on 11 children aged between seven and 15 years.
The case was already adjourned a number of times. Mr Roger McGinley, for the man, sought a further adjournment pending the outcome of a judicial review of the proceedings, which is listed for November 16th in the High Court. Mr Pat Callanan, for the State Solicitor's Office, agreed and the man was remanded to Ballybay on February 4th.
