A Dublin man extradited from Spain last year pleaded guilty at the Special Criminal Court yesterday to the manslaughter of a Bray landscape gardener 17 years ago.

John Patrick Moloney (52), formerly of Corbawn Wood, Shankill, Co Dublin, was arrested at Dublin Airport last March. Yesterday he pleaded not guilty to murder, but guilty to the manslaughter of Mr James O'Connor at Beech Road, Bray, Co Wicklow, on February 19th, 1983. Mr Paul McDermott SC, prosecuting, said Moloney's plea was acceptable to the DPP.

Moloney's counsel, Mr Anthony Sammon SC, asked for an adjournment before sentencing, and the court remanded Moloney in continuing custody for sentencing on January 24th.
