Man pleads not guilty to wife murder

A man yesterday pleaded not guilty to the murder of his wife, whose body was found in a skip in Dublin in 1996.

A man yesterday pleaded not guilty to the murder of his wife, whose body was found in a skip in Dublin in 1996.

In the Central Criminal Court, Mr David Patrick Murphy (36) of Munster Street, Phibsboro, Dublin was arraigned on the charge that on May 27th or 28th, 1996, he murdered Mrs Patricia Murphy (33).

Mr Justice Carney told the jury of eight men and four women this was a case "in which the body of Patricia Murphy was found in a skip". The couple had shared a home in Griffith Avenue, Drumcondra.

Mr Murphy goes on trial tomorrow before recently appointed High Court judge, Mr Justice Kelly.
