Man questioned over Co Offaly murder

A man has been arrested as part of the investigation into the murder of an elderly man in Co Offaly last year.

A man has been arrested as part of the investigation into the murder of an elderly man in Co Offaly last year.

The man, in his thirties, was arrested at Mountjoy Jail at 8 a.m. and taken to Edenderry Garda Station for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1999 where he can be questioned for 12 hours.

Mr Patrick Logan (81) suffered a fatal heart attack and his brother, Peter (83), sustained serious head injuries during the attack by two raiders in June of last year who broke into their cottage at Castlejordan close to the Meath-Offaly border.

Both men were beaten with a brush. The intruders escaped with about £45.
