A 36-year-old man has been remanded in custody after he was charged in connection with a €400,000 drug seizure in Cork city earlier this week.

Jurij Gudevic, with an address at Ashcroft Apartments, Blackrock, was charged with a total of four offences contrary to drugs legislation.

Mr Gudevic, a Latvian national, is accused of possessing cannabis and possessing cannabis for sale or supply at both Silverdale Walk in Ballinlough and Ashcroft Apartments in Blackrock on September 28th.

At Cork District Court today, Det Garda Fergal Lonergan gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution. He told the court Mr Gudevic made no reply to the charge after caution.

Insp Mary King said he was seeking a remand in custody.

Mr Gudevic’s solicitor, Donal Daly said that his client was not applying for bail at this point.

Judge Con O’Leary remanded Mr Gudevic in custody to appear in court again on October 6th. He also granted him free legal aid.
