Man remanded over Dublin city centre assault

A man was today remanded in custody in connection with a Dublin city centre assault after which the victim died.

Wojcirch Kuzma (27), a Polish national, of Sackville Court, Blessington Street, Dublin, was charged with assault causing harm.

The victim, Alan Barbour (27), from Lucan, died in Beaumount Hospital from head injuries five days after the attack opposite the GPO on O'Connell Street early on Sunday morning, June 18th.

At Dublin District Court Judge Cormac Dunne remanded the accused in custody with consent to bail.

Bail was set at €2,500 with an independent surety of €5,000 to be approved by the court.

The defendant will have to remain living at his address, surrender his passport and report twice daily to Store Street Garda Station. He is to appear again at Cloverhill Court on July 4th.
