A man has appeared in court charged in connection with the July 21 attempted bomb attacks on the London transport network.
Mr Muhedin Ali (27) of Chesterton Road, West London, is accused of assisting one of the suspects in the attempted bombings, Hussain Osman, to evade arrest. He also faced a charge of failing to disclose information about Osman when he appeared at Bow Street Magistrates Court in London.
He was not asked to enter pleas to the charges and District Judge Tim Workman remanded him in custody until a further hearing at the Old Bailey on February 10th.
The first charge alleges that between July 21 and July 28 last year Ali had information which "he knew or believed might be of material assistance in securing the apprehension, prosecution or conviction of Hussain Osman in the United Kingdom" and that he failed to disclose it.
This alleged offence is contrary to Section 38B of the Terrorism Act 2000.
The second charge said that "knowing or believing" that Osman had committed offences of attempted murder, conspiracy to murder and offences contrary to the Explosive Substances Act on July 21 "without lawful authority or reasonable excuse", he assisted him in evading arrest.
A further 16 people have already been charged in connection with the events of July 21 last year.
Five men have been charged with conspiracy to murder and are due to stand trial at the Old Bailey in September. They are Muktar Said Ibrahim, 27, Ramzi Mohammed, 23, Yassin Omar, 24, Manfo Asiedu, 32, and Hussain Osman, 27.
A sixth man, 23-year-old student Adel Yahya, is accused of conspiracy to cause an explosion of a nature likely to endanger life or cause serious injury to property.
The other 10 people are variously charged with failing to disclose information about suspects in the attempted bombings and assisting them in evading arrest.
