A man was remanded in custody today on drugs charges after €200,000 worth of heroin was seized by gardaí.
Brendan Reilly, a father of six from Langrishe Place, in Dublin's Summerhill, was arrested by drugs squad officers during a raid on Saturday night.
The man (42) appeared at Dublin District Court charged with possession of drugs. An application for bail was refused.
He had been arrested during a planned operation in Clontarf. One of the officers involved, Garda Vincent Campbell, told the court Mr Reilly was detained after being found with the stash of heroin.
"He was caught red-handed with it in his physical possession, judge," he told the court.
Mr Reilly was charged last night at Clontarf Garda Station with possession of drugs under the Misuse of Drugs Act just under 24 hours after his arrest.
He is undergoing a drug treatment programme at the North Strand rehabilitation centre.
