The Dublin fire brigade today rescued a man from under O'Connell Bridge, Dublin, after he entered the river Liffey shortly after 2 p.m.
Emergency services utilised three units of the Swift Water Rescue division to help save the man.
The Tara Street fire brigade received the emergency call at 2.17 p.m. and by 2.30 p.m., the man - believed to be in his mid-twenties - was being taken to St James's Hospital by fire brigade ambulance to receive treatment.
Firemen Shay Roe and Bob Legget recovered the man from under the bridge.
Sub officer Larry Byrne told ireland.comthe Swift Water Rescue unit was being used more and more.
"We're practically in there [Liffey] everyday now. We rescued another fellow yesterday," he said.
The fire brigade has not yet established how the man entered the Liffey.
