A Garda investigation is under way into the suspicious death of a man discovered in a hotel room yesterday.
The deceased, who was in his forties, was found just before lunchtime in a bedroom at an establishment in Carlow town.
Gardaí immediately sealed off the room for technical inspection.
It is understood the incident is being treated as suspicious.
The cause of death will not be known until the postmortem is complete.
Garda sources said that while initial indications were that he had succumbed to natural causes, he was tied up when discovered.
Meanwhile, a postmortem is due to be carried out today on the body of a man recovered from the sea by a fishing trawler at approximately 7pm.
The body was brought to Skerries harbour and then from there to the city morgue in Dublin.
It is understood that foul play is not suspected.
However the cause of death will not become clear until after the results of the autopsy.
