A man's body was taken from the swollen River Barrow by rescuers today following a four-day search.
The man was reported missing on Friday evening as storms swept across the country.
A police spokesman said a garda sub-aqua team and a civil defence unit found the body near the court house in Athy, Co Kildare.
The body has not yet been identified.
Meanwhile, Met Eireann issued a gale warning today as the wind and rain that swept across Ireland last weekend is expected to continue for the next few days.
In Galway, morning traffic was delayed by flash floods and the River Clare burst its banks onto the main Galway-Headford Road flooding hundreds of acres of low-lying farmland.
The River Suir also continued to flow at high levels through Clonmel today. There were estimates that between 5,000 and 6,000 acres of land was under water on the border between Galway and Clare.
Yesterday winds of up to 70 mph forced Dublin airport to ground some of its flights causing delays to passengers.
ESB repair crews have restored power to all areas of the country where supply was knocked out as a result of Friday's storms and flooding. Only houses where repair crews didn’t have access remain without electricity.
Irish Ferries said their Swift service from Dublin was not operating today but other services, as well as those of Stena Line, were leaving on schedule.
Met Éireann's three-day forecast predicts a cool and breezy night tonight, with clear spells and showers.
Tomorrow will be cold and windy with bright spells and showers, some thundery.
Wednesday night will be cold, frosty and mainly dry with winds moderating for a time. It will be a lot colder with many of the showers turning wintry.
Thursday will become a lot milder as wet and windy weather sweeps across from the Atlantic with clearer showery conditions following later in the day.
