A post-mortem will be held this morning in Letterkenny General Hospital, Co Donegal, on the body of a middle-aged man washed ashore at Bundoran beach yesterday.
Gardai in Bundoran have described the body as that of a man in his mid-50s. The area where it was discovered was sealed off for four hours. Local reports said he came from Northern Ireland.
The body had been less than 24 hours in the water, and it appears the man entered the sea quite close to Bundoran.
Gardai had not established the man's identity last night but were keeping an open mind.
Supt Mick Byrne confirmed the body was not that of one of the two missing Donegal fishermen, Mr Michael Jack Boyle (45) and Mr Thomas Moore (24), who disappeared after their fishing boat, the Lisa Selina, inexplicably sank off Rosbeg on October 31st.
