A man who has alleged he was sexually abused by a former Christian Brother at the North Monastery School in Cork has told Cork Circuit Criminal Court that it was a bit like Jimmy Savile at the BBC: "Everybody knew about it but nobody wanted to do anything about it."
A jury of six men and six women is hearing the case against Edward Bryan (above).
Mr Bryan (58), formerly Br Bryan, Martinvilla, Athboy Road, Trim, Co Meath, denies 10 charges of indecently assaulting four boys at the North Monastery School between September 1st, 1984, and June 30th, 1990.
The man told the court yesterday that the abuse began when he was in first year, when he went to meet Br Bryan in the gym for training to help build him up for basketball.
The abuse used to happen once a week, but ended when he was 13 and Br Bryan moved on to another child.
The case continues.
