A man was hospitalised in Derry yesterday after being been badly beaten and set on fire by a group of men in the city in the early hours of the morning.
Up to five men attacked the victim in the Shantallow area of the city at 3 a.m. on Saturday.
Flammable liquid was sprayed in his face before setting it alight. The man managed to escape from his attackers.
In an unrelated incident, a woman was beaten with hammers by two youths who then stole her four-wheel drive in Belfast yesterday evening .

The 53-year-old woman was dragged from the vehicle on Finaghy Road North shortly before 5pm yesterday and attacked. She escaped serious injury but was badly bruised.
