A man was today in hospital after being shot as he left a house in Co Antrim last night.
RUC detectives were trying to establish a motive for the attack, which occurred in Ballymoney.
According to the RUC two men were leaving a house in Finvoy Road at around 8.00 o'clock when they were approached by another two men.
One opened fire with a handgun, hitting the victim in the leg.
The gunman and his accomplice escaped towards Ballymoney town in what is thought to be a blue Honda car driven by a third man.
The victim's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
DUP Assembly member for the area Mr Ian Paisley jnr said: "Whenever firearms are used in such a manner it's very distressing. I will be making representations to the police to find out what's behind this."
