A 30-year-old man was shot and critically injured last night in the Foxdene Park area of Clondalkin, in west Dublin. In what is understood to have been a gangland-style shooting he was hit several times in the chest and neck.
Gardaí said he was shot as he alighted from a car in which he had been a passenger, in the driveway of a house on Foxdene Park. His attacker was said to have been a lone gunman who fired repeatedly from a handgun. The shooting took place about 8.40pm.
The victim was rushed to Tallaght Hospital where his condition was described as extremely serious.
The man was not named by gardaí last night but is said to have been from Ballyfermot and an associate of the Corbally brothers. Paul and Kenneth Corbally were killed in a double gangland execution, in west Dublin in June.
The scene of last night’s attack was being preserved. Witnesses were asked to contact gardaí at Ronanstown on 01 6667700, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666 111, or any Garda station.
