A man was shot three times in the back with a pellet gun last night after being confronted on his doorstep by a masked gunman in Lurgan, Co Armagh
It is believed the man answered a knock at the door and was confronted by a gunman at about 10.40pm.
As he tried to escape into the hallway he was shot three times. He was treated in hospital and was later discharged.
Police believe another man may also have been involved and appealed for anyone who witnessed anything to contact them.
Local sources believe the victim may be from Co Waterford and is connected to a turf-laying firm that supplies sports clubs and domestic gardens.
Nationalist SDLP Policing Board member Dolores Kelly said the community was shocked by the incident. "This occurred in a very rural, isolated area along Lough Neagh," the Upper Bann Assembly member said.
