Police in Belfast are treating a vicious knife attack on a man in the north of the city last night as attempted murder.
A PSNI spokesman said the man was stabbed in the neck and back by a man who got out of a car and assaulted him at Glantane Drive.
The injured man is on a ventilator in hospital, and his condition is said to be serious.
There were no arrests.

A second man was also stabbed in the city centre overnight. He was slashed on the head in the York Street area shortly before midnight and his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
One man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
