A teenager is to appear in court today following the hijacking of a taxi in Ballyfermot last night.
According to the Garda, the driver of the taxi pulled up on the Ballyfermot Road to pick up a fare at around 2.15 a.m.
On stopping the car, a man, one of a group of seven people waiting on the pavement, opened the drivers door of the taxi and pulled the driver out.
He jumped in the car and drove away on his own, but was followed by a Garda patrol car which subsequently stopped and arrested the man.

The man was released on remand and is due to appear in court later today.
The taxi man was not injured in the attack, but is said to be suffering from shock.
