The staff and volunteers at a youth project have praised the man who died alongside his wife in what the PSNI said was a tragic domestic incident in Co Down on Tuesday.

Andrew Kewley and Caroline Kewley, also known by her maiden name of Clark, died from gunshot wounds at their home in a rural part of Co Down near the village of Mayobridge. The PSNI is not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

Mr Kewley, thought to be originally from the Isle of Man, worked for the WIMPS (Where Is My Public Servant) project for young people in Belfast. The organisation has posted a detailed message of sympathy on its website which stressed his commitment to young people and the value of his work to their organisation.

"The staff, board, volunteers and participants in the work of public achievement are deeply saddened to learn of the sudden death of our colleague Andrew Kewley, known to all as Tully," the message read. "His enthusiasm and energy is legendary, it said.

The organisation's message made clear it would not comment on the manner of Mr Kewley's death.
