A murder accused whose case was struck out because of a delay in serving a book of evidence was yesterday charged again with the same offence.
Gregory Conway (37), Fr Murray Park, Dundalk, had been charged with the murder of Liam Maguire (43), also known as Liam Murphy, in Dundalk on June 15 last.
Mr Maguire's body was found with multiple injuries at Woodview Terrace, Castletown Road.
Last Friday at Cloverhill District Court he was freed after the book of evidence was not ready. On Wednesday, he was rearrested in Jervis Street, Dublin, and later charged with the same offence.
Det Sgt John Brady told Dublin District Court yesterday that after he was charged at Store Street Garda Station, Mr Conway made no reply. James McGuill, solicitor for Mr Conway, said he intended pleading not guilty.
Seamus Cassidy, solicitor for the DPP, said the book of evidence would be ready in a week.
Judge Cormac Dunne remanded him in custody to appear in Cloverhill District Court on September 28th. He granted a certificate of free legal aid.
