Manufacturing output falls to 0.7% in November

Ireland's manufacturing output dropped 0.7 per cent in the three months to November 2002 from the previous three months, according to figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

Food industries led the decline. Food products and beverages production fell by 2.7 per cent over the three months, while meat products production dropped by 1.5 per cent, according to the CSO.

However, provisional figures from the CSO also reveal production in November 2002 was 14.3 per cent higher than in November 2001.

From August to November 2002 industrial turnover for the manufacturing industries, which includes volume and price changes, was up 3.4 per cent on the previous equivalent period.

Capital goods saw an 6.8 per cent production increase, intermediate products were up 18 per cent while consumer goods were up 8.4 per cent.
