Buenos Aires - Argentina's fallen soccer idol Diego Maradona, undergoing treatment in Cuba for a heart condition brought on by cocaine and alcohol, promised yesterday he would claw his way back to health for his family and fans.
He said he was "not yet ready" to join the pantheon of late, great popular heroes like racing driver Juan Fangio and tango singer Carlos Gardel.
"I don't want to form that trio yet. They earned their place in heaven, but I would be there out of stupidity," said Maradona.
