The Minister for Health, Mr Martin, confirmed today he has received the report compiled by senior counsel Mr George Birminghamon into clerical sex abuse allegations in the Diocese of Ferns.

The Minister commissioned the report over three months ago after the former Bishop of Ferns Fr Brendan Comiskey was forced to resign over his handling of allegations of sex abuse by the late Fr Sean Fortune.

In a statement today, Mr Martin said he was grateful to Mr Birminghamon for his speed and thoroughness at getting the report completed.

It is understood Mr Birmingham interviewed various parties including victims, health board officials, gardaí and church authorities.
