Vatican City - Pope John Paul II beatified a martyred Hungarian anti-Nazi bishop, a Mexican nun, and an Italian bishop who helped immigrants, in a ceremony yesterday. The Hungarian, Vilmos Apor, helped ease the suffering of deported Jews crushed into trains bound for concentration camps which crossed his diocese during the second World War. He was executed by Soviet forces at the end of the war in 1945 after standing up to Red Army soldiers attempting to abduct young girls.
