MASSES IN memory of the Irish victims of the Air France flight 447 tragedy will take place in the coming weeks.
Dr Aisling Butler from Roscrea, Co Tipperary, will be remembered at 8pm Mass on Tuesday (June 9th) at St Cronan’s Church, Abbey Street in Roscrea.
Dr Butler, who was 26, died along with her friends Dr Eithne Walls and Dr Jane Deasy.
The Butler family has made a request for no flowers. However, the family has suggested that anyone who wishes to, may give a donation to Tallaght Hospital, Dublin. Dr Butler was a member of staff in the hospital’s accident and emergency department.
Meanwhile, a memorial Mass for Dr Walls, from Ballygowan, Co Down, will be held on Sunday, June 14th.
The 1pm Mass will take place in the Church of Mary, Mother of the Church, Saintfield, Co Down.
The Walls family have said that all are welcome to attend the ceremony.
The family has asked that donations in lieu of flowers be given to the research foundation at the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital on Dublin’s Adelaide Road.
Dr Walls, who was 28, had joined the ophthalmic team at the hospital in January.
The three friends were travelling together on the Rio-Paris flight that disappeared over the Atlantic Ocean on Monday. They were returning from a holiday to Brasil.
Also on board the aircraft were two Dublin-based Aer Lingus employees. Arnold Gergel, a 33-year-old Slovakian, and his 25-year-old Estonian colleague worked as baggage handlers at Dublin airport.
