The head of L'Oreal has unveiled plans to more than double the number of Body Shop outlets around the world to 5,000.
In an interview with the Financial Times, Jean-Paul Agon said this massive expansion could happen "in a few years".
France's L'Oreal bought out Anita Roddick's chain of ethical beauty products shops for £652 million.
Mr Agon insisted that his company agreed with Body Shop's opposition to testing products on animals.
He said that China, India, Brazil, Argentina and Chile were all potential areas of expansion. "This brand has a worldwide potential," he said.
Body Shop, which has 2,000 stores, has already opened in India.
Mr Agon added that it was looking at the testing of chemical ingredients on artificially produced human skin. He said he wanted "to make animal testing disappear completely and forever in the beauty industry".
