A Co Mayo farmer was remanded in custody when he appeared at Ballina District Court yesterday where he was charged with the murder of a 43-year-old man last October.
Padraig Nally (61), of Funshinagh, Cross, will appear again before Judge Mary Devins at Ballycastle Court today.
Early yesterday, he was arrested at his home and brought to Ballinrobe Garda station, where he was charged with the murder of John Warde at Funshinagh on October 14th last.
Mr Warde, a member of the Travelling community, lived at Carrowbrowne Halting Site, Galway.
Sgt James Carroll told Judge Devins at Ballina Court that he had arrested Mr Nally at 7.55am and brought him to Ballinrobe, where he was charged with murder.
Supt Padraig O'Toole applied to Judge Devins for Mr Nally to be remanded in custody to appear before Ballycastle Court today.
Mr Nally, who had legal representation, did not apply for bail.
