The President, Mrs McAleese, departs today on a tour of the Far East to promote economic and education links between Ireland and the region.
The trip includes an official visit to Thailand as well as a visit to Malaysia.
President McAleese will be accompanied by the Minister for Education, Mr Dempsey and a trade delegation.
