President Mary McAleese begins a three-day official visit to Scotland later this week.
During her trip from Thursday to Saturday, Mrs McAleese will be conferred with an honorary degree by the University of Edinburgh. She will also be guest of honour at a dinner hosted by Enterprise Ireland at Glasgow City Chambers on Thursday night.
She is expected to attend a reception at St Patrick's Church Hall in Coatebridge to mark 50 years in Britain of Irish traditional music umbrella, Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann. She is also due to visit Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum in Glasgow.
Engagements at the University of Edinburgh and St Catherine's Mercy Centre will form part of the itinerary in Edinburgh. The president will also be guest of honour at a lunch hosted by Provost of the University.
Mrs McAleese returns to Dublin on Saturday in time to attend the Six Nations international rugby match between Ireland and France at Croke Park on Sunday.
Scotland is the first official visit of 2007 for Mrs McAleese, who will be accompanied by her husband, Martin. Last year the president paid state trips to the Middle East, southern Africa, the US and Cyprus.
