London - Former Beatle Paul McCartney has found fresh romance with a former model who now works for a charity, Britain's Times newspaper said today. "We are an item. We've done charity work together and we've grown close," McCartney told the paper in response to questions about his relationship with charity worker Ms Heather Mills.
McCartney (57), whose wife Linda died in April 1998 after losing her long battle against breast cancer, appealed to the media to give the new relationship some space.
"What we don't need at this stage is photographers lurking in bushes," the paper quoted him as saying. "If this is to develop, then give us a chance."
Ms Mills (34) lost a leg in a road accident and is now a campaigner for the limbless victims of warzones, the paper said. Like McCartney, she is a vegetarian and an animal lover.
Since his wife's death - which McCartney said almost killed him too - the singer has tried hard to put his life back together, releasing the albums Run, Devil Run and A Garland for Linda which was dedicated to his late wife. The couple were devoted to each other, spending only one night apart during the whole of their 29-year marriage.
