Voters should end the secret deal between the Labour Party and Fianna Fail at Dublin City Council, Progressive Democrat President Michael McDowell urged tonight.
Speaking while presenting the PD's local election candidates for Dublin, the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform claimed the coalition parties at City Hall had shared out the plum jobs between themselves since 1999.
Mr McDowell said: "The electorate of Dublin are entitled to know that there is a Fianna Fail/Labour coalition that has handed out the lord mayorship for the last few years.
"The pair of them have a quiet deal at City Hall were they have shared out the role of mayor for the last five years," he added.
Mr McDowell called on voters to "send home the clowns" by scrapping the coalition circus.
The PDs, who have no councillors in City Hall, claimed the coalition was spending over the odds on administration, had failed to deregulate the taxi industry and failed to complete the Dublin Bay waste treatment plant.
The PDs are standing eight candidates in a total of 13 electoral wards for the city council elections on June 11th and Mr McDowell insists his party's councillors in Dublin Council would exercise their choice on what's best for the Government in the capital.
The party vowed to fight the election on improving waste management, promoting accountability at the council and ensuring better powers to fight crime, public disorder and anti-social behaviour in the city.
