The Minister for Justice, Mr Michael McDowell, has said he does not intend to widen the terms of reference of the Morris Tribunal.
Speaking in the Dáil tonight, the Minister said he believed the scope of tribunal was already wide enough.
The Labour Party had proposed a motion to widen the terms of reference of the tribunal, which is investigating alleged corruption by some members of the Garda in Co Donegal.
The motion also called on the Government to enter into negotiations with the McBrearty family on acceptable arrangements to allow them to be legally represented for the duration of the tribunal.
