Former Armagh star Kieran McGeeney could be in line for the Kildare management job.
Speculation is growing that the All-Ireland winning skipper, who announced the end of his playing career last week, could be about to take charge of the Lilywhites.
Should he become the Kildare manager , he could bring Paul Grimley on board. Grimley was Joe Kernan's assistant when Armagh won their first and only All-Ireland title in 2002, with McGeeney as their inspirational captain.
Grimley stepped down as Cavan assistant earlier this year to throw his hat in the ring for the Armagh job, following Kernan's decision to quit.
Grimley was surprisingly overlooked in favour of under-21 boss Peter McDonnell, a decision which prompted McGeeney to criticise the county board's handling of the appointment, and in particular, their treatment of Grimley.
