Co Meath plans to be in the top 10 of most-visited counties in Ireland within the next three years, according to a tourism and development plan announced at the weekend. The county is currently 17th, according to the chairman of Meath Tourism, the Fine Gael TD Mr John Farrelly. The Meath county manager, Mr Joe Horan, said £500,000 was being invested in the project, compared to £350,000 for the eight counties in the East Midlands Tourism Board, which has a budget of £350,000. By 2002, Meath Tourism aims to increase revenue from overseas visitors by 59 per cent, and by 44 per cent for domestic and Northern Ireland visitors.
