A Co Tyrone motor mechanic was remanded in custody when he appeared at Cookstown Magistrate's Court yesterday on 17 charges of receiving stolen goods valued at more than £100,000.

Mr Thomas Martin Donnelly (39), of Seyloran Lane, Moy, Dungannon, is accused of handling stolen cars, car bodies and radios.

The alleged offences, which are believed to relate to a cross-Border car theft ring, took place between November 25th, 1996 and September 10th, 1997.

Mr Donnelly was remanded for one week.
