Consultants at Cork University Hospital are now able to examine patients at remote disaster sites using a new video satellite link, writes Dick Hogan. It is said to be the first use in Europe of such medical technology.
The Southern Health Board said yesterday it now has the equipment, called the Forward Emergency Control Vehicle (FECV). The chief executive officer of the board, Mr Sean Hurley, said the vehicle could be air-lifted to isolated areas or locations difficult to reach by road.
