A brother of murdered dissident republican Alan Ryan and another man have been charged with firearms offensives as part of a investigation into the murder of Dublin man Michael Kelly last year.
The two men have already been charged with IRA membership following paramilitary activity at the funeral of Alan Ryan in early September.
Vincent Ryan (22), of Grange Abbey Drive, Donaghmede in Dublin 13, was this morning additionally charged with the possession of an AKM assault rifle and Webley-make revolver MkV1 at Clonshaugh Walk, Coolock, Dublin 17 on September 15th 2011.
Darragh Evans (23), of Grange Park Rise, Raheny, Dublin 5 is also charged with the same offence on the same date.
Kelly (30) was shot dead outside an apartment complex on Marrsfield Avenue, Clongriffin on September 15th, 2011.
Det Garda Brendan Mears, of Coolock Garda station, gave evidence that he met the two men in the confines of the court this morning and explained to them in ordinary language the reason for their arrest. He said neither man made any reply.
The two men, along with co-accused Nathan Kinsella (33), of Matt Talbot Court in Dublin 1, were last week charged with membership of an unlawful organisation styling itself the Irish Republican Army, otherwise Óglaigh na hÉireann, otherwise the IRA on September 13th last.
There was no application for bail. However, presiding judge Mr Justice Paul Butler approved an application for legal aid made by solicitor Michael Finucane on behalf of Vincent Ryan.
Mr Justice Butler, sitting with judge Alison Lindsay and judge Cormac Dunne, remanded the men in custody to appear before the non-jury court again on Wednesday, October 3rd.
